Number 6 OSS has a computer room, pool room and a small library, and can be used as a drop-in during set hours. It is a safe place, where people can relax and take a break from the stresses of everyday life. Anyone who uses Number 6 can come in during drop in times without needing to book an appointment.
The computer room contains five internet-accessible computers, which also have Microsoft Office software and printing facilities are available in the Blue Room.
We now have a whiteboard which is located on the 2nd floor outside of the Red Room which is updated weekly. This shows what is on during the week and any one off events that are coming up that week/month.
There are autism-specific books and magazines located in the office, as well as leaflets from other voluntary organisations which can be borrowed at any time. Please speak to a staff member to do so. There are also novels on the 2nd floor that you can borrow at any time. There isn't a strict borrowing process for these novels. All we ask is that you return them once you are finished reading it.
The pool room is open for pool during any of the drop in times and there is a specific pool drop in on a Friday afternoon from 3:00pm - 5:00pm.
You are also free to use the different rooms at Number 6 if they aren't in use. This will be indicated by the door being closed with a room in use sign on the door. People sometimes book rooms to study in or just to "hang out" in.
We tend to find that earlier in the drop in time is quieter than later in the afternoon/evening.
Tuesday is dedicated to being a quiet drop in from 10:00am to 5:00pm.
We also have a small kitchen which has tea/coffee making facilities, fridge, microwave and cooker. You are free to use these facilities during drop in times and if using the cooker please let a staff member know.
Outside of the drop-in times, use of the building is by arrangement only, and people should contact a member of staff to book the use of any facilities.
