DESCRIPTION
Currie Day Care Centre is a registered day care service for people who are 65 years or over. The project offers older, frail adults the opportunity to socialise and to have fun through a variety of activities held each day.
The day care project was set up 19 years ago to offer stimulating day care to the frail elderly folk of Currie, Balerno and Juniper Green.
The centre accommodates 15 members, and currently has no waiting list.
Although originally set up by Currie Kirk the Centre is now self-funding, with a grant from the City Council to cover the coordinator's salary and towards the cost of the meals. The members are asked for a weekly donation towards the cost of the hire of the hall, heating and transport. All other funds come from donations or fundraising events organised by the management team.
