We offer a diet of play sessions for special schools as an integral part of their curriculum. At The Yard Edinburgh, we deliver sessions every week with a range of activities for pupils from special schools, speech and language units, support bases and mainstream schools from across Edinburgh and the Lothians, and even further afield.
Whether a class is visiting to have some reward time out of the classroom, some much needed exercise and fresh air, or as an integrated part of a curricular project, the experience and activities of our playground are specifically tailored to the requirements of each group.
Pupils and staff tell us The Yard is an invaluable resource for schools; not only for the benefits offered by physical activity, but also the social and emotional support we provide for pupils with a range of often complex and profound disabilities.
