Playgroup

Blackhall Playgroup is a well established parent run, community based playgroup.

Each session is run by 3 Playleaders and caters for children between the ages of 2½ and 5 years old. It provides a stimulating, rewarding and welcoming play environment for children and, by introducing them to group activities and new skills, provides an effective bridge between home and pre-school nursery.

Day to Day

For both sessions: 9:00am - 11:30am class / 12:15pm - 2:45pm class

9:00am / 12:15pm

When the children arrive, parents will assist them changing into their indoor shoes. These can be kept on their named peg within the cloakroom area. This is where a change of clothes, nappies, wipes etc can be kept.

9:15am / 12:30am

Register is taken once all the children arrive. Once complete the children have supervised free play. We have 3 members of staff available to assist and support children and we also have a parent on duty each session from our parent rota.

10:00am / 1:00pm

A healthy snack is available throughout the morning. We have a rolling snack policy allowing children to finish their activity before snack. Children can find their name card, post it and wash their hands before sitting at our small snack area.

Planned activities will be carried out throughout the morning. A member of staff will assist the children with a variety of activities which may include; art and craft, making playdough, games and puzzles.

11:00am / 2:15pm

Towards the end of each session the children will assist to tidy, sort and put away toys and activities. Once this is complete we have group time.

By following our structure children are able to understand the importance of routine while still being able to make choices. This also allows children to build confidence and relationships while undertaking individual and group activities, ready for their next big step to pre-school.
