Parkinson’s Advisers...
Parkinson’s UK has a team of Advisers working around the UK. They have a wide range of knowledge and expertise about Parkinson’s and can help if someone:
- Has just been diagnosed and is looking for advice and information
- Is looking for tips on how to deal with the day-to-day impact of Parkinson’s
- Needs support with caring for a partner, friend or family member with Parkinson’s
- Needs emotional support
- Wants to find out more about the services available in their area
- Wants to learn about rights and entitlements
- Needs help navigating the benefits process
- Needs information on where to find grants and financial help
- Is looking for support on employment issues
- Needs support with anything else relating to life with Parkinson’s
People in need of support have access to an Adviser through the Parkinson’s UK National Helpline Freephone number 0808 800 0303 Monday to Friday, 9:00am - 6:00pm and Saturday, 10:00am - 2:00pm or by emailing hello@parkinsons.org.uk.
The National Helpline approach is used as the previous use of Local Advisers who had large areas to cover, were often away from their desks providing vital support to people in their area. Whereas the Helpline Advisers are able to respond quickly to give immediate information and support. Where there is a need for more local or in depth support, the Helpline Advisers will connect you to an Adviser, or to any other specialist adviser if needed.
