information SERVICE DETAILS

Crew provide Outreach at clubs and festivals to keep people safe and well by offering welfare, advice, harm reduction information and immediate crisis support. Our highly trained staff and volunteers deliver one to one support using active listening, brief interventions, motivational interviewing and violence reduction techniques, and we work collaboratively with security, paramedics and the police.

We also provide Outreach in schools, colleges, universities and youth club settings. These tailored opportunities for staff and students help develop effective education. We can cover many topics including: strategies for evaluating and negotiating risks, risk taking behaviour, drug harm reduction, sources of help and support, work specific to individuals’ experiences of drug use, self-esteem, challenging stigma and isolation.

Welfare provision

- Education and advice – free harm reduction and health promotion information and resources on alcohol and other drugs and sexual health.
- Chill out – seating area for people to relax, take a break and hydrate.
- Welfare lie-down area – 24-hour non-medical crisis intervention and monitoring (referring on to paramedic services where appropriate).

Workshops and support

Crew’s Outreach provides workshops and support including:

- Tailored workshops for staff, volunteers and parents/guardians/carers
- Peer education tailored training for students
- Work with small groups of pupils/students who are struggling with personal drug use and/or family drug use
- Tailored workshops to larger class groups which can cover aspects and approaches to risk and drug harm reduction as part of the Health and and Wellbeing Curriculum

Outreach volunteers

Crew provides a unique volunteering experience. Our volunteers are all well trained and work in a person-centred way with Crew’s values and ethos at the heart of their work. Crew’s volunteers work throughout the year to provide peer support and expertise in helping facilitate all aspects of the outreach work.
