Who is it for?

Forest skills has two different groups:

Year of the Young Person Forest Skills (YOYPFS)

Is a community outreach programme for 10-13 year olds who:

- Could benefit from Youth Vision’s supportive, experiential outdoor learning programmes.
- Are from four areas of urban deprivation (Wester Hailes, Calders, Saughton & Oxgangs).
- Are struggling to cope with a range of inter-related problems that affect their life-chances.

How does it work?

- The project runs on a Friday after school from 12:30pm - 4:00pm for 6 weeks in each area.
- At the end of each 6 week block there is a celebration event inviting the local community, schools and parent/guardians to celebrate what the young people have learned and achieved.
- A maximum of 12 young people to ensure we are providing a safe and nurturing learning environment.
