Beavers

Belong to the first and youngest Section in the Scouting family. Young people can join Beaver Scouts in the three months leading up to their sixth birthday. They can move to the next Section, Cub Scouts, between eight and eight years six months.

Easily recognised by their distinctive turquoise sweatshirts, Beaver Scouts enjoy making friends, playing games, going on visits and helping others. They usually meet together once a week in a Beaver Scout Colony.

Some Beaver Scout Colonies also organise Sleepovers. These are often the first time a young person spends a night away from home. They take place in suitable buildings, often Scout centres.

Suitable for ages 6 - 8 years.

The Beavers meet for an hour every Monday night during the school term to play games, learn exciting new skills, and earn loads of badges. Boys and girls can join from age 6, and will move up to Cubs around their 8th birthday. You can add your child to our waiting list as early as you like to ensure their place.

At the moment there is no waiting list for children who are already 6.

Fees

The cost of sending your child to Scouting will vary depending on your Group. It is likely to be between £50 and £100 a year and this may be collected weekly, monthly, each term or annually depending on local arrangements.

This fee covers the cost of the hire or upkeep of the meeting place and so on. Trips, camps and activities are usually charged separately.
