Support for Carers
Carers play a vital role in keeping vulnerable people active. We want to provide carers with the help and support they need to assist others to get active with Edinburgh Leisure.
Carer Access Card...
Our Carer Access Card has been designed to enable carers to support the individuals they are caring for when they visit our facilities.
The access card allows a carer to book into an activity alongside an Edinburgh Leisure customer at no additional cost to the carer.
The card is for carers to offer functional support to participants with a disability who wish to access Edinburgh Leisure services.
Functional Carer Support
This is where a participant with a disability needs functional support, that requires the carer to have close contact assistance, to support them to access our facilities, change clothes, and take part in activities.
Apply for your card
To apply for your Carer Access Card, please fill out our form at https://www.edinburghleisure.co.uk/activities/active-communities/support-for-carers.
What we expect from a carer
This is where a participant with a disability needs functional support, that requires the carer to have close contact assistance, to support them to access our facilities, change clothes, and take part in activities.
Pre-activity
- The carer will apply for a Carer Access Card.
- The participant will pre-book their chosen activity via our booking site at https://bookings.edinburghleisure.co.uk/bookonline/mrmLogin.aspx or on the app.
- The carer should use the Carer Access Card to book a space for the same activity, at the same venue, at the same time.
- Carers and participants can link their member records so either the participant or the carer can book for the other.
- Carers can then access our facilities to provide functional support to the participant with no additional cost.
- The card cannot be used by the carer when accessing our facilities on their own.
During activity
- Be on hand to support the individual through the duration of the activity.
- Whilst carers do not need to maintain physical distancing from the individual in their care, carers do need to stay physically distant from other customers and Edinburgh Leisure staff.
