Meadowbank Sports Centre was the first Commonwealth venue to host two Commonwealth Games, in 1970 and 1986. It has a spectacular history of medal winners who have raced on the outdoor 400 metre eight lane track – Mary Peters, Lord Coe, Daley Thompson, Linford Christie, Dame Kelly Holmes. From outdoors to the great indoors, you won’t be short of options at Meadowbank - a hub of activity that offers facilities for everyone to enjoy a healthy, active lifestyle.

Facilities

Scottish athletes train on our running track and you can too. Don't let the weather stop you as we also have an indoor track facility.

Our outdoor pitches are suitable for a variety of sports and an outdoor basketball court.

Indoors we have sports halls (including a FIFA Approved synthetic 3G football pitch), squash and basketball courts, gym, fitness studios and a purpose built RPM studio.

Need a moment to relax? Then head for the Finishing Line cafe.

Athletics
Our 400 metre eight lane track is open to the public so for a small fee you can prep for a race or just use it to improve your technique or stamina. We have full track and field facilities, including jumping and throwing areas and an indoor track facility when the weather isn't great.

Basketball
From shooting to dribbling and lay ups to free throws there’s plenty of fun to be had with our outdoor basketball court. Just grab your friends and get a game on the go. We also have an indoor basketball practice area so you can fine tune your skills and accuracy.

Open All Hours
Nothing to do, nowhere to go, spent your allowance? If you’re in S1-S6, Open All Hours could be the answer - come try out new sports or fitness and dance classes, work out in the gym, join in a game of football or meet up with friends.

Relax
The Finishing Line café offers an extensive menu of hot and cold foods and a selection of drinks. Relax with an open view over the athletic track.

Physiotherapy

Natural Health Clinic
The clinic also offers Acupuncture, Bodywork, Myofascial Release and Reflexology. All practitioners are highly trained and experienced in treating a huge array of acute and chronic health issues, including sports injuries.

By Bus: Services by Lothian Buses 2 and 26 with stops nearby.

Meadowbank Closure and Redevelopment

After a run of almost 50 years, Meadowbank Stadium will shut its doors on 3rd December 2017. The closure of the flagship venue, which was built for the 1970 Commonwealth Games, will mark the start of major redevelopment plans to create a new state-of-the-art sports centre on the same site.

The new centre will include an outdoor athletics track, multi-sport games, fitness studios, gym, gymnastics hall, squash courts, combat studio, boxing gym, indoor athletics track, outdoor throwing area and Two FIFA standard 3G (all weather) pitches.
