information DESCRIPTION

Fiona Watson's family and Heriot-Watt University have established a memorial fund which, every year, will assist a final-year student from the university to take up an internship with the UN or an internship with a similar international organisation.

Fiona Watson graduated with a first-class honours degree from Heriot-Watt University in 1991, before going on to act as Political Adviser to the Special Representative of the Secretary General, Sergio Viera de Mello. She was one of the 22 peacekeepers killed in the terrorist attack on the UN headquarters in Baghdad on Tuesday 19th August 2003.

Donations will contribute to an endowed fund which will generate income on an annual basis to meet the award winners travel and accommodation costs during the internship. A target of £100,000 has been set for the fund, which will be administered by Heriot-Watt University. The University can accept tax-efficient and tax deductible gifts.

If you would like to make a donation to the fund, you can do so easily and securely online at https://www.alumni.hw.ac.uk/give/the-fiona-watson-fund.

Donations will contribute to The Fiona Watson Memorial Fund, an endowed fund which generates income on an annual basis.
