information DESCRIPTION

Engender's an organisation for women and women's organisations in Scotland, working with other groups locally and internationally to increase women's power and influence, and to ensure that women and their concerns have greater visibility and equal representation.

Engender undertake project work as a way of carrying forward its overarching aim of supporting and facilitating equality for women across all areas of life.

Our work:

- Facilitating events where the women can engage in dialogue with the stakeholders whose work impacts on their situation. This includes policy makers, academics, politicians and practitioners.

- Providing training and mentoring to the stakeholder organisations in understanding systemic exclusion and inequality, and in gendering their analysis, policies and practices.

- Learning from working with the communities of interest and associated stakeholders to inform our own policy advocacy and the development of resource manuals for other organisations that need to gender their work in these sectors.

For more than 20 years Engender has worked to make Scotland a fairer, safer place where women can flourish and contribute to all areas of life with dignity, freedom and justice.

We’ve worked at the highest levels of public life, aiming for the stars, on a shoestring budget, with hundreds of committed and hardworking women and men from all walks of life. Our work has aimed to increase women’s power and influence, and to support people, organisations, and our government in making equality a reality.

But we want more - in fact we want you! Our all dancing website has been designed to make it easier for anyone who is interested in making visible the impact of sexism on women, and on Scotland’s social, economic and political development, to have their say and to find ways to address it so that we can live in a Scotland that is respectful and representative of all its citizens.
